Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiongzhi Tongluo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Developed by Hebei Yiling Hospital, the drug is based on the "collateral disease" (Luobing) theory, which suggests that microvascular complications in diabetes arise from the obstruction of the body's collaterals. The formulation, typically administered as a capsule, aims to improve renal microcirculation, reduce inflammation, and mitigate fibrosis by "dredging the collaterals." It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to assess its efficacy in reducing proteinuria and slowing the progression of kidney damage in patients with type 2 diabetes.
