Xirconi

Xirconi is a topical antifungal cream containing 1% oxiconazole nitrate, developed and marketed by Ferozsons Laboratories Limited. As an imidazole derivative, oxiconazole nitrate exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes, primarily through the inhibition of the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death. Xirconi is indicated for the treatment of various dermatological fungal infections, including tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), and tinea versicolor, as well as cutaneous candidiasis. It is formulated for external dermatologic application and is typically applied once or twice daily to the affected areas.
