XJH05 is a novel small-molecule inhibitor developed by Xijing Hospital for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. It specifically targets the SLC22A17 protein (also known as the lipocalin-2 receptor), blocking its interaction with lipocalin-2 (LCN2). This intervention inhibits the activation of the LCN2-SREBP2-NLRC4 signaling axis, which is implicated in abnormal cholesterol metabolism in keratinocytes and the recruitment of inflammatory cells like neutrophils. By downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-18, XJH05 aims to reduce epidermal hyperproliferation and immune cell infiltration. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as a topical ointment for patients with mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis.
