Overview

XL081 is a PASylated interferon being developed by XL-protein for the treatment of viral infections, specifically HIV. The drug utilizes XL-protein's proprietary PASylation technology, which involves the genetic fusion of the interferon protein with a conformationally disordered polypeptide sequence consisting of Proline, Alanine, and Serine (PAS). This modification increases the hydrodynamic volume of the therapeutic protein, thereby significantly extending its plasma half-life by reducing renal clearance. XL081 acts as an interferon receptor agonist, aiming to leverage the antiviral and immunomodulatory effects of interferon to combat HIV infection. It is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
