Overview

XL082 is a PASylated interferon (IFN) being developed by XL-protein for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The drug utilizes XL-protein's proprietary PASylation technology, which involves the genetic fusion of the therapeutic protein with a conformationally disordered polypeptide sequence composed of Proline, Alanine, and Serine (PAS). This modification significantly increases the hydrodynamic volume of the interferon molecule, thereby slowing renal filtration and extending its pharmacological half-life. As an interferon agonist, XL082 is intended to provide the immunomodulatory benefits of interferon therapy with a potentially improved dosing schedule compared to non-modified or PEGylated interferons. It is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
