XLCART001 is an autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed for the treatment of various B-cell malignancies. The therapy consists of a patient's own T lymphocytes that have been genetically engineered to express a CAR targeting the tumor-associated antigen CD19, which is a protein predominantly expressed on the surface of B-cells and most B-cell-derived cancers. Upon re-infusion into the patient, these modified T cells recognize and bind to CD19-expressing malignant cells, leading to their selective destruction through T-cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Developed by The First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University, XLCART001 has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China for patients with relapsed, refractory, or high-risk B-cell leukemia and lymphoma.
