Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XMMME-001-RTA (also known as XOMAZYME-Mel) is an immunoconjugate drug composed of a murine monoclonal antibody targeting high molecular weight melanoma-associated antigens, chemically linked to the ricin A chain toxin. The mechanism of action involves the specific binding of the antibody component to melanoma cells expressing these antigens, followed by internalization and delivery of the ricin A chain into the target cell. Ricin A chain inhibits protein synthesis within the cell, leading to cytotoxicity and tumor cell death. This agent was developed for use in patients with advanced or metastatic melanoma and has demonstrated specificity for melanoma cells over non-melanoma cells in preclinical studies[1][2][4][5].
