Overview

XomaZyme-791 is an immunotoxin composed of the ricin A chain conjugated to a murine monoclonal antibody (MoAb 791T) that specifically binds to a 72 kDa glycoprotein expressed on human colorectal carcinoma, ovarian carcinoma, and osteogenic sarcoma cells. The mechanism of action involves the targeted delivery of the ricin A chain toxin to tumor cells via antibody-mediated binding; once internalized by cancer cells, the ricin A chain inactivates ribosomes and halts protein synthesis, leading to cell death. This agent was developed as an experimental therapy for solid tumors such as metastatic colorectal cancer[2][3][7]. Clinical studies have focused on its use in oncology settings where conventional therapies are limited.
