XP-004 is an investigational personalized mRNA-based cancer vaccine designed to encode patient-specific tumor neoantigens. Developed by Shanghai Xinpu BioTechnology (an affiliate of Shanghai PerHum Therapeutics), the vaccine is tailored to each patient by identifying unique somatic mutations via whole-exome sequencing (WES) and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) of tumor samples. XP-004 is intended to stimulate the patient's immune system to recognize and attack residual cancer cells by activating antigen-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. It is currently being evaluated as an adjuvant therapy, primarily for patients with resectable pancreatic cancer who are intolerant to standard chemotherapy, often in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors such as PD-1 inhibitors to enhance the anti-tumor immune response.
