Overview

XPACE-1002 is an intranasal mRNA vaccine booster developed by Xanadu Bio using the proprietary poly(amine-co-ester) (PACE) polymeric nanoparticle delivery platform. Licensed from Yale University, the PACE platform was developed by professors Mark Saltzman and Akiko Iwasaki to overcome the limitations of traditional lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), such as inflammation and poor mucosal penetration. XPACE-1002 delivers mRNA encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein directly to the nasosinus mucosa, aiming to elicit local IgA-mediated mucosal immunity. This approach is designed to prevent local infection and reduce community transmission of COVID-19, addressing a significant gap in current intramuscular vaccines.
