Overview

XPC-4 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel NaV1.7 (SCN9A), developed by Xenon Pharmaceuticals. It serves as a representative research compound comparable to Xenon's clinical candidate XEN1701. In preclinical studies in cynomolgus monkeys, doses of XPC-4 achieving greater than 75% NaV1.7 receptor occupancy demonstrated significant reductions in capsaicin-evoked heat pain (approximately 85% to 100% reduction at the highest doses tested) without causing clinically meaningful changes in systolic blood pressure or heart rate. XPC-4 is utilized to support the development of non-opioid therapeutic strategies for the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
