Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XPC-B is a preclinical voltage-gated potassium channel (Kv7) potentiator developed by Xenon Pharmaceuticals as a non-opioid analgesic for the treatment of pain. Comparable to Xenon's clinical-stage candidate XEN1120, XPC-B acts as a positive allosteric modulator of Kv7 (specifically Kv7.2/Kv7.3) channels to reduce neuronal hyperexcitability. In preclinical studies, XPC-B demonstrated dose-dependent efficacy in reducing capsaicin-evoked heat pain in cynomolgus monkeys (a non-human primate model of capsaicin allodynia) at lower plasma exposures than those required in the mouse formalin model, suggesting high potency and potential for translation to human therapeutic doses.
