Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xs02 is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Beijing Sinovac Biotech for the prevention of tuberculosis. The vaccine is formulated with the AEC fusion protein, which incorporates two key Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens: Ag85B (a major secretory protein) and HspX (a heat shock protein associated with latency). To enhance immunogenicity, it utilizes the BC02 adjuvant system, a proprietary adjuvant derived from Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) that is designed to induce a potent Th1-type cellular immune response. Xs02 is primarily being evaluated as a booster vaccine for BCG-primed individuals or as a post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent the progression of latent tuberculosis infection to active disease.
