Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XTS002 is a small molecule inhibitor of Voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) oligomerization, currently in preclinical development by X-tosis for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson's Disease. VDAC1 is a mitochondrial gatekeeper protein that, under pathological conditions, undergoes oligomerization, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction and the initiation of apoptosis. By preventing this oligomerization, XTS002 aims to restore mitochondrial function and protect neurons from degeneration. The program is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
