Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xuanfei Jingshui decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Changzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). The decoction is designed to target the gut-kidney axis, a pathway where intestinal dysbiosis is linked to the pathogenesis of IgAN through the production of galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1). By modulating the composition and function of the intestinal flora, the treatment aims to reduce systemic inflammation and the deposition of immune complexes in the renal mesangium. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China as an adjunctive therapy to standard care to assess its safety, clinical efficacy in reducing proteinuria, and its specific impact on the microbiome profile of patients with biopsy-confirmed IgA nephropathy.
