Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xuanhuang Runtong is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of constipation, specifically the Yin-deficiency type. In TCM theory, Yin deficiency leads to a lack of moisture in the intestines, resulting in dry stools and difficulty in evacuation. The formulation is designed to moisten the intestines and unblock the bowels (Runtong). It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety compared to placebo in improving bowel movement frequency and stool consistency in patients with chronic constipation.
