Xueyu Danhuang Butter is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation used as a rectal enema for the treatment of chronic radiation enteritis (CRE). It is primarily composed of carbonized human hair (Crinis Carbonisatus, known as Xueyu Tan) and egg yolk oil (Danhuang You). The preparation is designed to protect the intestinal mucosa, promote tissue repair, and reduce rectal bleeding and inflammation caused by radiation therapy for pelvic malignancies. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials sponsored by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
