Overview

Xuhanting Granular is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically formulated for the treatment and prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTI) in pediatric patients, particularly those diagnosed with Lung-Spleen Qi deficiency. The preparation is based on a traditional formula designed to tonify Qi, strengthen the body's exterior defenses, and stop spontaneous or night sweating (hyperhidrosis), which are often clinical markers of a weakened immune system in TCM theory. Pharmacologically, Xuhanting Granular acts as an immunomodulator; clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to increase serum levels of immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG, and IgM) and regulate T-lymphocyte subsets (increasing CD3+ and CD4+ counts and the CD4+/CD8+ ratio), thereby enhancing the patient's resistance to viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens.
