Xulane Lo

Xulane Lo is an investigational low-dose, once-weekly transdermal contraceptive patch being developed by Viatris that delivers the progestin norelgestromin 150 mcg and the estrogen ethinyl estradiol 17.5 mcg per day to prevent pregnancy.[1][2] As a combined hormonal contraceptive, it primarily inhibits ovulation and also thickens cervical mucus and alters the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of fertilization and implantation.[3][4] Designed as a lower-estrogen alternative to existing norelgestromin/ethinyl estradiol patches, Xulane Lo aims to provide effective reversible birth control with potentially improved safety and adhesion performance, as supported by phase 3 data showing contraceptive efficacy, favorable cycle control, and a low rate of patch detachment.[1][2]
