Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XVIVO Heart Solution (also referred to as Supplemented XVIVO Heart Solution or SXHS) is a sterile, hyper-oncotic, extracellular preservation and perfusion solution developed by XVIVO Perfusion. It is specifically designed for cold flushing and continuous non-ischemic, hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) of donor hearts during retrieval, transport, and storage prior to transplantation. The solution contains human serum albumin to maintain oncotic pressure and scavenge toxic substances, dextran 40, electrolytes, and glucose. It is typically supplemented with hormones (such as triiodothyronine, cortisol, and insulin), catecholamines, and erythrocytes (red blood cells) to support myocardial metabolism, maintain endothelial integrity, and minimize ischemia-reperfusion injury. It is used in conjunction with the XVIVO Heart Assist Transport system to safely extend donor heart preservation times and reduce the risk of primary graft dysfunction.
