Overview

XVR-021 is a neutralizing single-domain antibody (also known as a nanobody) developed by ExeVir Bio for the treatment and prevention of dengue. As a virus internalization inhibitor, it targets the dengue virus to block its entry into host cells. Single-domain antibodies (VHHs) are derived from camelid antibodies and are smaller than conventional monoclonal antibodies, allowing them to access hidden viral epitopes that traditional antibodies cannot reach. This property may enable deeper tissue penetration and more cost-effective manufacturing compared to standard monoclonal antibody therapies. The drug is currently in preclinical development for infectious diseases, specifically dengue[1][2].
