Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XW014 is an orally bioavailable small molecule glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist in phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Unlike GLP-1 peptide analogs, XW014 is designed as a small molecule to facilitate oral administration, easier manufacturing, and formulation. Its mechanism of action involves agonism of the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor, which plays a key role in glucose regulation and appetite suppression. The drug is being developed by Sciwind Biosciences and has potential for use as monotherapy or in fixed-dose combinations with other oral agents targeting metabolic diseases such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
