Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XW017 is a novel, long-acting gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) peptide analog developed by Sciwind Biosciences. It functions as a selective agonist of the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), optimized for enhanced biological activity and extended in vivo stability. The drug is primarily being developed for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). As a biologic peptide, XW017 is designed to potentially be co-formulated with glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists to achieve synergistic effects on weight loss and glycemic control. It entered clinical development in 2023 to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile.
