Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xyllomac is an injectable formulation of amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class. Developed and marketed by Delbert Pharma, it is used to treat various bacterial infections, including bacteremia and respiratory tract infections. The drug works by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall, thereby inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, leading to cell wall lysis and bacterial death. It is available as a powder for solution for intramuscular or intravenous administration in strengths of 500 mg, 1 g, and 2 g. Delbert Pharma focuses on maintaining the availability of such essential medicines that might otherwise be discontinued by larger manufacturers.
