Overview

Xylogranatin C is a limonoid compound isolated from the fruit of the mangrove plant *Xylocarpus granatum*. It has demonstrated potent anti-tumor activity, particularly against esophageal cancer cells (e.g., Eca109), with inhibitory effects comparable to the chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of apoptosis through multiple pathways, including the death receptor, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria-dependent signaling pathways. Additionally, xylogranatin C suppresses tumor cell proliferation by up-regulating the expression of miR-203a.
