Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xyralid is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical combination product developed by Innovus Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hemorrhoids and anorectal disorders. It typically contains a combination of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, and hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid. Lidocaine provides rapid pain relief by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, thereby inhibiting the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. Hydrocortisone addresses the underlying inflammation, swelling, and itching by acting as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to the downregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Xyralid is available in multiple formulations, including Xyralid LP, Xyralid RC (which includes psyllium), and a high-strength hemorrhoidal cream containing 5% lidocaine, provided in forms such as creams and suppositories for topical or rectal application.
