XZP-7797 is a selective, brain-penetrating small molecule inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) being developed by Shandong XuanZhu Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Sihuan Pharmaceutical. By inhibiting PARP1, the drug prevents the repair of single-strand DNA breaks, which leads to the formation of double-strand breaks during DNA replication. In tumors with existing deficiencies in homologous recombination repair (such as those with BRCA mutations), this results in synthetic lethality and cell death. XZP-7797 is specifically designed to cross the blood-brain barrier, potentially offering a therapeutic advantage for treating primary brain tumors or brain metastases associated with solid tumors like breast, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancers.
