Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Y-001 is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) being developed by Zhejiang Helixgen Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that require activation by acid and bind covalently to the H+/K+-ATPase, P-CABs like Y-001 inhibit the gastric proton pump in a reversible and K+-competitive manner. This mechanism allows for a faster onset of action, more stable acid suppression, and a longer duration of effect compared to PPIs. Y-001 is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China, with studies focusing on its efficacy in treating duodenal ulcers and reflux esophagitis.
