Y-2

Y-2 is an investigational small molecule neuroprotective agent developed by Yantai InnoBio Biotechnology for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Formulated as a sublingual tablet, Y-2 is designed to provide rapid absorption and ease of administration, which is critical in the acute management of stroke patients where the therapeutic window is narrow. It is classified as a Class 1 innovative drug in China and is reported to be a novel sublingual formulation or prodrug of edaravone. The drug's primary mechanism of action involves scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibiting lipid peroxidation, thereby protecting neuronal cells from oxidative stress-induced damage following an ischemic event. Y-2 is currently in Phase 2 clinical development to evaluate its safety and efficacy in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
