Overview

Y14 is a novel extended-release peptide YY analogue developed for the treatment of obesity. It is a human PYY analogue based on human PYY1-36, designed to act as a selective agonist of the human Neuropeptide Y receptor Y2. The drug utilizes a zinc-based extended-release formulation to allow for weekly or fortnightly administration. Clinical trials have shown Y14 to be well-tolerated, leading to significant reductions in body weight and food intake in overweight/obese volunteers. It was developed by Zihipp, Ltd. with funding from the UK Medical Research Council.
