Y225 is a humanized bispecific antibody developed by Wuhan YZY Biopharma for the treatment of hemophilia A. It is engineered using the company's proprietary Y-body platform to mimic the biological activity of activated coagulation factor VIII (FVIIIa). By simultaneously binding to activated factor IX (FIXa) and factor X (FX), Y225 facilitates the assembly of the tenase complex, which is essential for the activation of factor X and the subsequent generation of thrombin. This mechanism allows Y225 to bypass the need for FVIII, making it potentially effective for hemophilia A patients both with and without FVIII inhibitors. The drug is administered via subcutaneous injection and is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and prophylactic efficacy.
