yagratide

Yagratide (also known as SY-009) is an orally active, small molecule dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor developed by Yabao Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It functions by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By stabilizing these hormones, yagratide enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release, thereby improving glycemic control in patients with diabetes. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China, including studies focusing on safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers and patients with type 2 diabetes or renal impairment. Despite the "-tide" suffix typically associated with peptides, yagratide is a small molecule compound, often referred to in Chinese literature as yaglitin (亚格列汀).
