Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yan Tiao Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula specifically developed for the management of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Primarily researched and utilized at Longhua Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula is designed to address the damp-heat and blood stasis patterns identified in TCM diagnosis. Its therapeutic efficacy is attributed to its ability to modulate the immune microenvironment and suppress systemic and local inflammation. Mechanistically, Yan Tiao Fang inhibits the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the NF-κB signaling pathway, leading to a significant reduction in the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. Clinical and preclinical studies suggest it effectively alleviates pelvic pain and improves urinary function in patients with refractory chronic prostatitis.
