Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yanghe decoction is a traditional Chinese herbal formulation composed of seven main ingredients: Radix Rehmanniae praeparata (prepared rehmannia root), Cortex Cinnamomi (cinnamon bark), Ephedra sinica (ephedra herb), Semen brassicae (mustard seed), Zingiber officinale Roscoe (ginger rhizome), Radix Rhizoma glycyrrhizae (licorice root and rhizome), and Colla cornus cervi (deer antler glue)[1][3]. It is primarily used in traditional Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. Mechanistically, components of the formula have been shown to suppress NF-κB-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation, downregulate pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α, promote regulatory T cell production via Foxp3 upregulation, increase anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10 and TGF-β, and inhibit Akt signaling[1][4][5]. Clinically, yanghe decoction has been studied for autoimmune diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis[6], autoimmune thyroiditis[1], knee osteoarthritis[3], asthma[5], and breast cancer adjunct therapy[4].
