Yanghe Tongluo Decoction

Yanghe Tongluo Decoction (阳和通络饮) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, often described as a simplified or modified version of the classical Yanghe Decoction (阳和汤), which was first documented in the Qing Dynasty. The original Yanghe Decoction was traditionally used to treat conditions such as dorsal furuncles, menoxenia due to blood deficiency, and phlegm dampness and stagnation in joints and meridians, primarily addressing 'yang insufficiency, blood deficiency, accumulation of pathogenic cold and phlegm stagnation'. The formula typically comprises a combination of herbal ingredients including Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Colla Cornus Cervi, Cortex Cinnamomi, Semen Sinapis Albae, Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparata, Herba Ephedrae, and Radix Glycyrrhizae. Modern research and clinical studies are exploring its potential in various indications, including breast cancer (especially HER2-positive), plasma cell mastitis, autoimmune thyroiditis, idiopathic granulomatous mastitis, slow-healing wounds, colorectal cancer lung metastasis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoporosis. Its proposed mechanisms of action involve modulating immune responses, inhibiting inflammatory pathways, and influencing specific cellular signaling pathways such as PI3K/Akt/NF-κB and BMP-SMAD, as well as promoting angiogenesis and fibroblast proliferation. It is typically administered orally.
