Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Blood-Nourishing and Hard-Softening (BNHS) capsule, known in Chinese as Yangxue Ruanjian Jiaonang, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It is a multi-ingredient botanical extract that includes Radix Paeoniae Alba (Bai Shao) and Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae (Qin Jiao). The formula is designed to alleviate pain and stiffness and improve joint function by modulating inflammatory pathways. Clinical research, including randomized controlled trials conducted by Shuguang Hospital, has indicated that the BNHS capsule is as effective as Western treatments like glucosamine sulfate for symptomatic relief in osteoarthritis patients, while offering a more cost-effective alternative. It is administered orally in capsule form.
