Yanhuning

Yanhuning is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Injection (TCMI) derived from the plant Andrographis paniculata (Chuanxinlian), with its active component being an andrographolide derivative. It is globally approved for infectious diseases and virus diseases. It is widely used in China, often in combination with conventional Western medicine, for the treatment of various infectious and inflammatory conditions, particularly in children. Clinical studies and network meta-analyses have investigated its efficacy in conditions such as bronchopneumonia, Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia, acute upper respiratory tract infection, rotavirus enteritis, influenza, acute tonsillitis, community-acquired pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and COVID-19. Its known mechanisms include inhibiting *Candida albicans* biofilms by downregulating adhesion-related genes like ALS1, ALS3, HWP1, EAP1, and MP65. It also exhibits broader anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, contributing to its therapeutic effects in respiratory and other infections.
