Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yaobitong is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound preparation formulated as an oral capsule. It is primarily used for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and has also shown potential anti-inflammatory effects in models of rheumatoid arthritis. The formulation consists of multiple herbal ingredients designed to enhance blood circulation, remove stasis, relieve pain, and modulate inflammatory responses. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Yaobitong can significantly reduce pain and improve functional outcomes in patients with LDH compared to other treatments such as Jingyaokang or loxoprofen sodium capsules[2][3][4]. Mechanistically, it appears to exert its effects by suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-8 (IL-8), reshaping gut microbiota composition, and influencing metabolic pathways related to tryptophan, bile acids, and fatty acids[1][4]. The precise molecular targets remain unclear due to the multi-component nature typical of TCM formulations.
