YAP-TEAD Inhibitor 1 (Peptide 17) is a synthetic peptide designed to act as a potent and competitive inhibitor of the protein-protein interaction between Yes-associated protein (YAP) and Transcriptional Enhanced Associate Domain (TEAD) proteins. This inhibition disrupts the Hippo signaling pathway, which is frequently dysregulated in various cancers. The peptide has demonstrated potential in treating YAP-involved cancers, such as lung cancer and ovarian cancer, by effectively inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and downregulating key target genes like CTGF and Cyr61. Additionally, it has been shown to influence the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in ovarian cancer. Beyond oncology, Peptide 17 has also been investigated for its role in alleviating early hypertensive renal injury by regulating the Hippo/YAP signaling pathway.
