Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YAT2150 is a bis(styrylpyridinium) salt and a protein aggregation inhibitor that acts as a potent antimalarial and antileishmanial agent. It is also the active component of the commercial ProteoStat reagent used to stain protein deposits in living cells. YAT2150 exhibits significant antiplasmodial activity against *Plasmodium falciparum* (including chloroquine- and artemisinin-resistant strains) and *Plasmodium vivax*, as well as antileishmanial activity against *Leishmania infantum*. Its mechanism of action involves binding to and inhibiting the formation of biomolecular condensates and protein aggregates, thereby disrupting proteostasis in the parasite.
