Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**YAZFlex** is a flexible extended-cycle combined oral contraceptive (COC) containing drospirenone (3 mg), a synthetic progestogen with antimineralocorticoid and antiandrogenic properties, and ethinyloestradiol (20 μg as betadex clathrate), a synthetic estrogen. It prevents pregnancy primarily through ovulation inhibition, cervical mucus thickening, and endometrial changes, while offering additional benefits like reduced menstrual bleeding, less painful periods, and treatment of moderate acne vulgaris via androgen suppression. Developed as a variant of the conventional 24/4 regimen YAZ, it provides dosing flexibility for extended use.[3]
