YB1-X7

YB1-X7 is an attenuated, genetically modified Salmonella typhimurium-based therapy being developed by Shanghai Salvectors Biotechnology. [3] This oncolytic bacterial therapy is designed to selectively accumulate in the hypoxic microenvironment of tumors. [6, 10] Following accumulation, the bacteria proliferate, invade tumor cells, and release a therapeutic payload, which leads to tumor cell death and regression. Research indicates that YB1-X7 also acts as a vascular disrupting agent by directly damaging tumor-associated vascular endothelial cells, inducing thrombosis, which blocks blood supply and further promotes a hypoxic environment favorable for the bacteria's colonization. [6, 10] It is under investigation in a Phase 1 clinical trial for advanced and/or metastatic solid tumors. [5]
