YCJ100 is a novel small molecule derivative of camptothecin (CPT) featuring a fluorine substitution at the 10-position. It functions as a Topoisomerase I inhibitor, a mechanism common to the camptothecin class, which involves stabilizing the covalent complex between DNA and the Topoisomerase I enzyme. This stabilization prevents DNA ligation, resulting in lethal double-strand breaks during DNA replication and subsequent apoptosis of tumor cells. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that YCJ100 possesses significant anti-tumor activity and has been evaluated for its systemic toxicity profile. It was developed by researchers at Nantong University.
