Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YD01-2022 is an autologous cell therapy consisting of expanded pancreatic islet cells, currently under investigation for the treatment of diabetes mellitus following total pancreatectomy. The therapy involves the isolation of islet cells from a patient's own pancreas, followed by an in vitro expansion process to increase the functional cell mass before re-transplantation. This approach is designed to restore endogenous insulin production and improve glycemic control in patients who would otherwise be completely insulin-dependent and at risk for severe hypoglycemic episodes. The primary clinical focus is on patients undergoing total pancreatectomy for conditions such as chronic pancreatitis or pancreatic tumors.
