Overview

Yellow catfish protein hydrolysate is a bioactive peptide mixture produced through the enzymatic digestion of proteins from the yellow catfish (*Pelteobagrus fulvidraco*). Research in animal models of obesity has demonstrated that the hydrolysate exerts anti-obesity effects by inhibiting adipogenesis and promoting lipid metabolism. Its mechanism of action involves the downregulation of key adipogenic transcription factors, including Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPα), and Sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP-1c), alongside the activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway. It is primarily investigated as a functional food ingredient or nutraceutical for the management of metabolic disorders such as obesity and hyperlipidemia.
