Yellow Fever cell-culture vaccine (Institut Pasteur Dakar)

The Yellow Fever cell-culture vaccine is a next-generation vaccine candidate being developed by the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) in Senegal. Moving away from traditional manufacturing methods that rely on embryonated chicken eggs, this candidate utilizes cell-culture technology to improve scalability, production speed, and safety for individuals with egg allergies. The development of this vaccine is a key component of IPD's Strategic Pillars 2022-2031 and the MADIBA (Manufacturing in Africa for Disease Immunization and Building Autonomy) initiative, which aims to establish a robust vaccine manufacturing hub in Diamniadio, Senegal. The vaccine is designed to elicit protective immunity against the yellow fever virus and is currently in the preclinical stages of development.
