This combination refers to the co-administration or sequential use of the live-attenuated yellow fever vaccine (Stamaril) and the chimeric live-attenuated Japanese encephalitis vaccine (Imojev) in clinical research. Stamaril is a live-attenuated vaccine derived from the 17D strain of the yellow fever virus. Imojev is a recombinant chimeric vaccine that utilizes the YF-17D strain as a genetic backbone, expressing the pre-membrane and envelope proteins of the Japanese encephalitis virus. This specific combination was the subject of a Phase 2 clinical trial at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) titled "Cellular Immunity Correlates with YF17D and JE-YF17D Vaccines." The study aimed to determine if T-cell responses (CD4+ and CD8+) generated by the yellow fever vaccine backbone could reduce viremia upon challenge with the heterologous chimeric Japanese encephalitis vaccine, exploring the concept of cross-reactive cellular immunity between vaccines sharing a common vector backbone.
