Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yescort is an approved pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Yash Pharma Laboratories. The active ingredient is deflazacort, a glucocorticoid small molecule that acts as a prodrug. Upon oral administration, deflazacort is rapidly converted to its active metabolite, 21-desacetyl-deflazacort, which binds to and activates the glucocorticoid receptor. This activation leads to the modulation of gene expression, resulting in potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Yescort is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions across various therapeutic areas, including dermatology, pediatrics, and ophthalmology. It is available in multiple oral dosage forms, including tablets of varying strengths (6mg, 18mg, 30mg) and a suspension formulation.
