Yganta (yttrium-90 resin microspheres) is a targeted radiopharmaceutical developed by GrandPharma (China) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It consists of biocompatible resin microspheres loaded with yttrium-90, a high-energy beta-emitting isotope with a half-life of approximately 64.1 hours. The treatment is administered via the hepatic artery through a procedure known as selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) or radioembolization. Once injected, the microspheres lodge in the microvasculature of the tumor, delivering localized radiation that induces DNA damage and cell death in malignant tissues while sparing healthy liver parenchyma. Yganta was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China in 2022 for the treatment of unresectable or non-ablative, non-metastatic HCC. It is also being investigated in combination with immunotherapy and targeted agents such as camrelizumab and apatinib.
