Overview

YHC1140 is a small molecule agonist of the growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) receptor, specifically targeting the GDNF family receptor alpha-like (GFRAL). Developed by Yuhan Corporation, it is being investigated for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Unlike the widely used glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, YHC1140 utilizes a non-incretin-based mechanism that acts on the hindbrain's feeding centers to suppress appetite and induce weight loss. As a synthetic small molecule, it is intended to offer a unique therapeutic approach with potentially improved gastrointestinal tolerability compared to peptide-based therapies. The drug is currently in the exploratory or preclinical stage of development.
